ABOUT THE POSITION

We are seeking an experienced, results-driven, and hands-on General Manager to lead the pre-opening and operational phases of a new independent three-star business hotel in central Jember.

Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the General Manager will be fully responsible for the hotel’s opening readiness, service quality, financial performance, team development, and achievement of revenue and profitability targets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute the pre-opening plan to ensure the hotel opens on schedule and within budget;

  • Establish the organizational structure, support the recruitment process, and ensure all employees receive appropriate training;

  • Develop, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures across all hotel departments;

  • Lead the daily operations of Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Engineering, Security, Sales & Marketing, Finance, and Human Resources;

  • Prepare annual budgets, business plans, financial forecasts, and targets for revenue, GOP, and EBITDA;

  • Control operating expenses, payroll, purchasing, inventory, losses, and the use of hotel assets;

  • Develop sales and revenue strategies covering room pricing, distribution channels, OTAs, corporate accounts, government accounts, travel agents, and direct bookings;

  • Monitor occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, revenue, profitability, guest satisfaction, and departmental KPIs;

  • Ensure consistent guest service standards and manage complaints promptly and professionally;

  • Maintain high standards of facility condition, cleanliness, security, workplace safety, and preventive maintenance;

  • Ensure compliance with all hotel licenses, operational standards, and applicable government regulations;

  • Build strong relationships with companies, government institutions, local communities, vendors, and business partners in Jember and across East Java;

  • Submit regular operational and financial reports to the Board of Directors;

  • Build a disciplined, welcoming, professional, and guest-focused workplace culture.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Tourism, Management, Business, or a related field;

  • At least eight years of experience in the hospitality industry;

  • At least three years of experience as a General Manager, Hotel Manager, Executive Assistant Manager, or in an equivalent senior leadership position;

  • Experience managing a three- or four-star hotel, particularly one with 100 rooms or more, will be an advantage;

  • Previous hotel pre-opening or repositioning experience is strongly preferred;

  • Strong knowledge of hotel operations, budgeting, profit and loss analysis, cost control, and revenue management;

  • Good understanding of corporate, government, OTA, and digital distribution sales strategies;

  • Proficient in using hotel PMS, POS systems, operational reports, and performance dashboards;

  • Proven ability to lead teams, provide coaching, develop employees, and enforce operational standards;

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills;

  • Good command of English;

  • High level of integrity, decisiveness, attention to detail, and the ability to make sound decisions quickly;

  • Willing to be based in Jember;

  • An established business network in Jember or East Java will be an advantage.

KEY SUCCESS INDICATORS

  • The hotel opens on schedule and within the approved budget;

  • Occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, revenue, GOP, and EBITDA targets are achieved;

  • Operating expenses are controlled in line with the approved budget;

  • Service quality and guest satisfaction standards are consistently maintained;

  • The hotel team is fully recruited, properly trained, and consistently follows established SOPs;

  • The hotel develops a strong market reputation and productive relationships with corporate and government accounts.
