Platform Engineer

The Platform Infrastructure team at our client plays a critical role in keeping the production and development environments running smoothly and securely. This role will utilize advanced cloud capabilities to facilitate the Platform Infrastructure strategy of market agility and lean operating principles with a strict focus on quality to meet the ever-growing demands of their clients.As a Platform Engineer, you will be wearing multiple hats in a highly visible role, interacting with all aspects of the business. 

Key responsibilities include:Designing, maintaining, and troubleshooting distributed systems with strong hands-on debugging skillsManaging the relationship between the Platform Infrastructure team and the Information Security Team to address and resolve security issues related to the platform, CI/CD pipelines, and development toolsContributing to security best practices by promoting a shift-left approach and fostering a strong security culture within the DevOps/Platform Infrastructure teamDeveloping and maintaining tools to support the development environment on macOS and Linux, with a focus on enhancing developer productivityMaintaining site reliability with a focus on building highly scalable systems integrating resiliency and high availability at all levelsDeveloping software and tooling to secure and automate cloud infrastructure, building software delivery capabilities with fully automatic workflowsDesigning and operating a Kubernetes environment for container management and orchestrationWorking with distributed systems design, maintenance, and hands-on troubleshooting/debugging 8+ years of DevOps or SRE experience with at least 4 years of AWS experience8+ years of CI/CD pipeline development in GitLab, GitHub, or similar framework5+ years of experience with security best practices in AWS, including remediating SecurityHub findings5+ years of experience with DevSecOps tools, including SAST tools, DAST tools, and SCA toolsMicroservices (Docker, Kubernetes) experience in a production environment strongly desiredStrong Linux OS-level and command-line/scripting knowledge and configuration management principlesWorking knowledge of databases such as MongoDB, Postgres, and DynamoDBCoding beyond simple scripting with strong opinions on maintainable/reusable code in Python, Ruby, or Java desiredExperience with compute provisioning on a cloud-based platform using Terraform and/or CloudFormationExceptional analytical skills, able to apply knowledge and experience in decision-making to arrive at creative and commercial solutionsExperience building a microservice-based architectureGood written and spoken communication skillsAbility to design and implement complex but easily managed automated infrastructureEnthusiastic about sharing knowledge, teaching, and learning collaboratively within a team environmentExperience in system tuning and performance testing
