As a Junior Database Administrator, you will support the administration, monitoring, security, and maintenance of our MySQL and PostgreSQL database environments. You will assist in ensuring database reliability, monitoring ETL/ELT processes, and supporting our growing Data Lake infrastructure to keep business-critical data accurate, secure, and accessible.

Your success will be measured by your ability to maintain database stability, support efficient data operations, resolve issues promptly, and contribute to the reliability and performance of our data platforms.

Database Administration

• Monitor the health, availability, and performance of MySQL and PostgreSQL databases
• Perform routine database maintenance activities
• Assist with database configuration, patching, upgrades, and system enhancements
• Support SQL query tuning and database performance optimization
• Help troubleshoot database issues and escalate complex concerns when necessary

ETL/ELT Operations

• Monitor ETL/ELT workflows and identify processing failures
• Assist in troubleshooting data synchronization and pipeline issues
• Support data validation, reconciliation, and integrity checks
• Help ensure accurate and timely movement of data across systems

Data Lake Operations

• Assist in maintaining Data Lake storage structures and organization
• Support data partitioning, file management, and retention processes
• Help maintain data quality, accessibility, and consistency
• Assist in organizing structured and semi-structured datasets for analytics

System Monitoring

• Monitor database performance, ETL pipelines, and system alerts
• Identify operational issues and escalate when appropriate
• Maintain operational documentation, monitoring logs, and maintenance records
• Assist in improving system reliability through proactive monitoring

Security & Compliance

• Assist in managing database user accounts, permissions, and access controls
• Support database security reviews and audit activities
• Ensure compliance with internal security standards and data governance policies
• Help maintain database integrity and confidentiality

Backup & Disaster Recovery

• Execute scheduled database backup procedures
• Verify successful completion of backups and report any failures
• Assist with restoration testing and disaster recovery exercises
• Help ensure critical business data remains protected and recoverable

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field
• At least 1 to 2 years of experience supporting databases, data engineering, or related technical functions
• Basic knowledge of MySQL and PostgreSQL administration
• Understanding of SQL query development and troubleshooting
• Familiarity with ETL/ELT concepts and data movement processes
• Basic understanding of Data Lake and modern data warehousing concepts
• Familiarity with Linux environments
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• High attention to detail with a willingness to learn and continuously improve

• Exposure to AWS services such as RDS, S3, AWS Glue, or Athena
• Experience with Python, Apache Airflow, or similar automation tools
• Knowledge of database backup and recovery procedures
• Exposure to cloud-based infrastructure and enterprise database environments
